SP 2, XP pro and 1 AMD Athlon 64

I've tackled and defeated the Dr. Watson Postmortem Debugger error, the one
that occurs whenever I try to open any explorer window.

The main issue, after installing SP 2, was that once i had installed it,

The desktop would "Disappear" whenever i move my mouse from a window, to the
desktop.
The desktop would "reappear" when i move my mouse back to the window.

(In this case, I have opened AOL Instant Messenger, and one of my friends
Messaged me and i was able to keep my cursor there)

From the IM Window, i could press the Windows Key, and navigate my way to IE
through the directional arrows.

How can i fix my problem?

(I realize i can uninstall SP 2, through safe mode and control panel)

I've been having a lot of trouble with compatability issues with my AMD 64
2800, and i'm inclined to wonder whether or not it is the issue.

Try running explorer as a separate process... It's helped in the past with
issues like that.

Start the registry editor (regedit.exe).
Navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer.
From the Edit menu, select New-DWORD Value.
Enter a name of DesktopProcess, and press Enter.
Double-click the new value, set it to 1, and click OK.
Log off your Windows session, then log on.
