SP Update in Vista (Business)

I want to get SP1 for Vista (Business).

I see that it is not listed in possible updates when I go to Windows Update.
I am told in a MSFT article that SP1 is not offered via Windows Update where
there are driver conflicts. There is a list of drivers.

I see that my audio driver, SigmaTel is listed, but with two identification
numbers that I do not have.

But, O.K., I update my driver. I need with SigmaTel to go to my computer
manufacturer and get an update. I got the update to 6.10.0.5543. It is
running fine, I am listening to an audio stream right now.

Still, when I go to Windows Update, I do not see SP1 in my list if possible
updates.

Please, how do I get this solved?

Thanks, Carey

I had seen that myself. But therer is a note on that alternative saying that
this is really for large groups and that there should be a much smaller
download for iindividual machines.

I also saw that this is a problem all over the Dell universe because of
SigmaTel and that Dell is supposed to address this problem. So, not being in
any mood for haste, I am going to see if Dell gets their act together and try
tp heed MSFT's aadvice.

I saw KB948343, I just do not see anything there that might have affected me
except the SigmaTel thing, and I do not have either of the 32 bit builds
shown there. I did update SigmaTel anyway, and it made no difference.

Microsoft is offering free-of-charge support to *anyone* who is having
issues installing Windows Vista SP1 - even those who may be using a OEM copy
of Windows Vista that came with their machine.

Simply open your browser to the following URL and choosing "Windows Vista
Service Pack 1 (All Languages)" =>

Hey, thanks, I will give it a shot. I'll try to come back with a report. I
guess I should use IE7, eh?

O.K., I did the chat thing with a fellow in Bombay. He wanted to do a manual
install of the 400+mb download. I said that I could do that myself, and that
I was not ready for that yet. No rush. So he gave me some very nice
instructions, told me to do the actual installation in safe mode. While I was
on chat with him, I got a telephone call to confirm that it was going well. I
told the caller that my tech was doing great. So, thanks, now I know where I
stand. I am going to wait a while and see if Dell gets their act together
before I do it manually.
