SP1 and SP2 question

Now I don't have SP1 installed because it wouldn't install and getting
so-called help from microsoft did not help either. I know there's a beta
SP2 and you can't install that unless you have SP1 installed first. My
question, after SP2 is out of beta will I then be able to install it even
though I don't have SP1 installed?

What happens when you try to install SP1? It should work fine. SP2 is a beta
and should not be installed until it is formally released.
As far as I know, a service pack includes the previous service packs.

Unfortunately, Microsoft Has Said That You Need 2 Have Service Pack
One Installed In Vista In Order 2 Install The Proposed Service Pack 2
Beta 4 Windows Vista, And This Is Not Likely 2 Change Any Time Soon,
Also Just FYI.

It downloads and goes through the install but at the last step (3) it just
says it can't install and will revert back to the original setting.

I have contacted microsoft support 2 times and got no where, nothing they
suggested worked. Don't ask me what it was because I don't remember now, I
just gave up and never tried to install again.

In article <Z3R9l.1613$%>,

Vista SP2 will break this former 'rule'. I think they said it was
because of the size.

It may be unusual for an OS, but many of the Office 'Service Releases'
often require earlier ones to be installed first.

I was hoping that maybe that I could install the SP2 (not the beta one)
without having the SP1. I can't get that to install for me no matter what.
I did find something I'm going to try one last time, if that doesn't work I
give up on SP1.
