Well for what I use a computer for email, browsing, e-commerce and blogging,
SP1 made no difference. Still swapping windows at random and loosing text in
input forms and applications. In short, not something we disabled folks can
use effectively or efficiently. I'll bet business productivity is truly
terrible if everyone has my experience. I can't even get MSN to recognize my
spelling dictionary from Office 2007. Vista's just not a good product from my
standpoint.

I guess you have a reading comprehension issue.

The statement:

"If your Microsoft product was already installed on your computer
when you purchased it, contact your computer manufacturer to see
if no-charge support is available to you."

does not apply to SP1 since the Microsoft product being referred to
is SP1 and no PC manufacturer has shipped any PC with SP1!
In other words, the "product" is SP1 and not the Vista O/S itself.

And please read and try to comprehend:

"According to Microsoft, tech support lines have been beefed up to handle
issues related to SP1 beginning today. In a welcome change from the normal
policy, you can call for free support on SP1–related issues even if you purchased
an OEM copy of Windows Vista preinstalled on a new computer. E-mail, chat,
and phone support are all available. Vista SP1 has its own dedicated support page
(if you’re outside the U.S., you might need to start at support.microsoft.com and
find the appropriate links for your country)."

Ref: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=400

I'll except your apology in advance, thank-you.

I'm putting a complaint about your MVP.
I am going to do everything to have it stripped from you.
You are a liar!

Carey

Thanks for your support in this newsgroup

However, I tried the above three times last night
I filled it in religiously, every box, sometimes in duplicate

When push came to shove, Microsoft advised 'there may well be a
problem in submitting this information' 'try again later' or words to
that effect

So, as mine was a problem of SP1 not showing up, despite having no
extraneous items as defined in the support page previously posted, I
downloaded the complete update, c 450mb, and the install went fine

My postulation as to why SP1 didn't appear on WU for me is a
scheduling/server overload issue, but not flagged up as such

While Carey may certainly be biased toward MS and their software, he is
usually fairly accurate in his statements and assistance he gives others.

At least, he does help folks here.

Oh geezzz Mick now you are getting silly. I thought better of you than this,
but no doubt I was wrong. Go ahead and put in your complaint and I'll
counter that with a compliment, that should offset both. Come on, stop this
nonsense and move on.
