Not to burst anyone's bubble, but if SP1's speed "improvement" isrelying
on the 2 performance updates that are listed as being included in SP1,
that I have ALREADY installed, then SP1 is gonna be a HUGE
disappointment.

I'd be happy if they could fix the frickin search issues when utilizing
indexing. Right now it's worse than without indexing on my 2 pc's.

I have seen may things, but nothing from an official source that said
that.

The best rumors I have heard for months have heard say late 2007 to
early 2008.
That seems to still be correct, but we will have to wait and see

SP1 will not offer any significant speed improvements. It will fix a few
security problems, the memory error, a small percent of performance and
stability problems as the two MSKBs for that already have (included in SP1)
and the vast majority of people who install it will be able to distinguish
that it has been installed about as well as a bunch of guys at a bar can
tell which of 10 different Vodka brands they are guzzling after several
doubles.

This is a serious assessment, rather than one done in jest after reading the
white paper and using SP1's alpha/beta already.

And a bunch more bloat too. The download is expected to be 1gig, and 7
gigs required as min free space on your HDD in order to install it (for
unpacking space).

I don't know that it was 'official', but if you check back through the
postings, you'll find that mentioned several times.
