MS update has installed SP1 on my PC with no obvious problems, but there are
a few oddities emerging.
None very important to me, but it would be nice to get them fixed if
possible

My PC is dual core with 4G RAM running Vista Ultimate. Bit Locker is on.
One Care is installed

1. Recovery from sleep does not work. It effectively just reboots, but
more slowly than usual. It did not work before either but I had hoped SP1
would fix it
2. I seem to have lost the Media Center, but I never used it much anyway
3. I cannot turn on Guest account or make a new user. It seems to work but
when trying to log on to the new account I get "User Profile Service service
failed the logon' I was trying to set up for a friend to use my PC for a
presentation, but he can always use my own account if I cannot set up one
for him
4. I used Bit Locker to encrypt my external backup drive. All OK but when
I used Backup & Recovery to make an image of my C: drive after SP1 installed
it warned me the backup was not encrypted. I assume it actually is
encrypted but the warning is a hangover from before.

Any advice/comment appreciated

***Go to Advance Power Settings.
Set hard drive to turn off a minute or 2 before sleep.

Set Hybrid and Hibernate modes to "Never"

Under USB settings select "Disable"

Under Multimedia select "Allow ....."

***Create a desktop shortcut to "C:\Windows\ehome\ehshell.exe"

That found media center. No wonder searches for 'Media Center' did not find
it!

No luck with sleep though. It still thinks for ages and then reverts to a
normal, or error, startup.

Thanks though

John

You're welcome.

See if you can find a solution to the sleep issue here:
