I uninstalled RC refresh 2 to get all the other updates before SP1 RTM is
released to WU,

Let me tell it makes a bigger difference than I thought, Vista is much
slower and file copy and delete is absolutely glacial.

The sidebar is acting up again, with gadget moving around on boot up.

Disk clean up and defrag takes forever again. Graphics are jumpy and the
system slows down significantly with more than a few apps open at once.

SP1 maybe late, but it's not little. Update all your drivers because you
want SP1 once it becomes available, you won't want to go back.

That's why I'm not uninstalling my RC Refresh 2 until the last minute.

I haven't had any problems with the system being slower or the file copy
being 'glacial'. In fact file copying is a lot faster with SP1 than without
SP1.

Sidebar also isn't causing any problems neither is disk cleanup. I'm not
sure bout defragmenter because I don't use Vista's build in defragmenter I
use PerfectDisk which is far superior.

Well, we will be getting SP1 RTM mid-March, if not sooner. That's when I'll
uninstall this one.

Yet again, a basic OS feature that is unsatisfactory in the latest
user-friendly OS.

Back in the 1970's, there was at least one OS (Wang) that didn't fragment so
didn't need defragmenting.

Yes, but YOU had to keep track of what space was needed for your file(s) and
if it was too big, it just wrote over the next file. The a "Pack" command
was introduced to "Close in" the white spaces so you had space for more
files. When Dynamic file allocation was introduced, you didn't have to
worry about the needed space. The OS figured it out and split the file up
to fit in all over the place. But then of course you end up with
fragmentation issue so now you need a utility called a defragmenter. I
remember a fellow programmer was all upset because no pack command was in a
release not realizing a new file allocation system was in place.
