SP1 Install error through Windows Update

my windows update located SP1 update, it downloaded and fails at start of
install with error code 800704C8, further attempts to install come with same
error message but without attempting download, i assusme file is somewhere on
machine. Am downloading full 400mb version, but worried about using at
present in case something is wrong with machine.

Any ideas what problem with windows update is.

You run some driver that forbids the sp1 install.
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation from Windows
Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates:

Thats not the problem as i can see the update, and also i have none of those
products/drivers installed.
