SP1 install quits on Windows Server 2003 Web Edition

I'm trying to install SP1 on Windows Server 2003 Web Edition and it keeps
failing. The Windows Update procedure quit with an error saying that it
couldn't be completed and I should try again...which I did several times,
unsuccessfully. Then I downloaded the SP and tried to run it manually. It
unpacks the setup and starts checking the installed config, then just quits
without any error message or anything. Suggestions?

Have you checked the Svcpack.log file for any errors after the failed
installation. This file is located in the systemroot folder.
