SP1 issues with installing?

Can someone asssit me on this.

I get the little icon that there is an update to Vista, this is SP1. When I
close all programs (even side bar) I go and let this install. When this is
completed it asks for a restart and this is then updated the info. But, when
the computer gets done and restarts, the information states that there was an
error with the "restart" and then it sits there and goes back to the original
settings.

I have tried this in a shut down also. Cleaned the cookies, did a regrag, ect

Can someone help me.
