Actually Vista SP1 RC is available to the public now as part of the beta.

Thanks. Would you recommend this to people who know a fair bit about
computers from the user perspective but are not in the business?

This is the third beta of SP1 I have installed and by far it's the best and
I feel an improvement over SP1 without it. Not brain surgery...I just said
to read the instructions carefully because there is some good information
there. Go for it!
