Do I need SP1 after SP2 is installed? Is there any way I can actually
install it?

SP1 always caused issues when I have installed it previously and I would end
up removing it. Now windows update is not able to find software to install
drivers for new hardware I've installed and i think it might be because i
don't have SP1. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Ray;
SP-2 include everything in SP-1.
If you have SP-2 installed, you can not and should not attempt to install
SP-1.

If you have new hardware, go to the hardware manufacturers website and get
the drivers directly from them.

The problem I'm having is that the drivers for all the hardware I have
installed are supposed to be detected by XP (there are no drivers on the
manufacturers websites to support the hardware.) The devices work fine but
the "found new hardware wizard" runs everytime I restart my computer and it
is never able to find the correct software from microsoft update.

Thanks for answering and for any additional help you can provide.

Ray;
The drivers are not likely on Windows Update as drivers.
From what you say, Windows XP has those drivers natively but the
manufacturer would know.
You need to check with the manufacturers about proper detection.
Do not confuse the Driver Update section of Windows Update with your driver
issue, they are not connected at all.
