Is it true that installing SP1 removes the Search feature on the Start menu?
I use that feature all the time!
Do I HAVE TO install SP1 or at least can I put it off as long as I can?
How is it going to be distributed...VIA Automatic Update because if so I am
turning off Auto Update.

Please advise.
Thank you
paula

I'm using the 18000 build of SP1, and Search is still on my Start menu

I am still using the start search with SP1 RC.
So its safe to say it keeps it.

I am getting conflicting info on this and I can't find the article where I
read that it was gone in SP1. Are we talking about the same search though?
I don't mean the Search that is on the right hand side of the start menu (in
the black area) I am talking about the "Start Search" *box* that is right
under the "All Programs" . Is that still there?
Thanks again.

It only removes the search from the right pane of the start menu, the Start
search is still available.

It isn't removed by default, but it is able to be removed or changed to
other search providers.

you are mixing the info up

all SP1 is going to do is allow people to switch from the search that
microsoft provides with another one from google for example...

if you dont select it to use another one, it will still be working forever
