SP1 still not being offered

Hi Folks

I have been doing quite a bit of work trying to discover why auto-update is
still not offering me SP1. My latest suspicion is that the presence of
freebie 'Roxio Creator DE version v 9.0.116' (also apparently known as
'Roxio Easy Media Creator 9') might be the culprit. I am using Windows
Vista Home Premium on a Dell Dimension 9200.

Any ideas please?

Cheers

Read the above link, and how to download SP1 from there.

I have Roxio V 9.0.116 on a Dimension 9200 with Vista Home Premium and
went to SP1 on Windows Update after I got rid of the Sigmatel HDA
driver. I had added a sound card so it was redundant anyway but its
presence was enough to block SP1 of course. Roxio would seem not to have
been the problem for me.

BTW, and perhaps not relevant for you, a Sigmatel update from
6.10.0.5511 to 6.10.0.5515 is available in file R173209 in Dell's
downloads disguised as an Optiplex update. I used this for my wife's
XPS420 but I see a Dimension 9200 on the compatible systems list, as a
DXP061 for me, along with many other model names/numbers. Two hours
after seeing a post to this effect on a Dell forum I had the sound
update and SP1 installed on the XPS420. There is a 'cancel' option on
the R173209 start panel which shows the list of systems, should one be
in doubt. Dell's 'Support Centre' utility had not offered an update
however.

<sigh> that won't tell the OP WHY he isn't being offered SP1. The link
posted by Nonny will. Would YOU install something like SP1 when there is a
conflicting driver on your system?

Your reference was incomplete because it failed to address the issue
that the OP has: Updates won't present him with SP1, which means that
his system has one or more problems. Downloading SP1 direct from
another site won't fix that.

And it was correct.

It was lacking

The same person who made you the knowall here.
