When I go to install the SP1 update the size is shown as 65MB. I have only a
dial up connection which downloads at around 12MB's per hour thus the
download would take 5+ hours. My ISP automatically disconnects after about 3
hours. My question is if I start this download and get disconnected will it
resume at the point I was disconnected or will it start all over again from
the beginning?

you will probably need to start again.
you can try downloading using Firefox or download a Download Manager..
This will allow the download to start from where it left off.

Other dial-up users have reported that the download resumes if the
connection is lost, Al.

Hi - when XP SP2 was released, I only had a dial-up connection and so had
the same problem. I contacted Microsoft and they sent it to me on a CD -
free of charge. I received it only a few days later. Maybe this might be an
option for you if Microsoft still do this.
Brian.
