I just reinstalled XP Pro on my Toshiba laptop. It is a legitimate copy. When
I right click on My Computer go to Properties and under the General tap I
don't see any service packs regestered. I when to Microsoft update and it did
not show as needing it. How do I find out if I have sp1, sp1a?
Thanks for any help.

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, "General" tab.
Top center of the window shows your system info.

If you are using Express Installation, there are other updates that need to
be installed before the Service Pack is available.
Instead order the CD or download and burn to CD, Step 1 on this link:

If it didn't show it, you don't have ANY service packs installed.
It should read something like:

System
Mictosoft Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2
