SP2 Access is Denied & update.inf

I am having continuing difficulty with the install of XP SP2. I have been
following Article ID 873148 and have reset many registry permissions. I now
can't get past the following series:
#E008 Setting registry value
HKCR\Interface\{00000501-0000-0010-8000-00AA006D2EA4}\TypeLib\Version
#E033 Error 5: Access is denied.
#E065 Parsing AddReg section [ado.AddReg] in
"c:\windows\softwaredistribution\download\6ca7b3a8 efd5a9b6f87fff395a2eb989\update\update.inf" failed. Error 5: Access is denied.
#E064 Parsing install section [DataAccessSection] in
"c:\windows\softwaredistribution\download\6ca7b3a8 efd5a9b6f87fff395a2eb989\update\update.inf" failed. Error 5: Access is denied.

I have reset all related permissions in the registry and made all files and
directories (as possible) in the update.inf path so they are not read-only.
I continue to get this error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Open the registry editor and drill down to

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{00000051-0000-0010-8000-00AA006D2EA4}\TypeLib

Right click TypeLib, choose Permissions
Both Administrator and System should be listed with Full Control and
Read perms.

Thanks. I've done that. The only group/user is "Everyone" with Full
Control and Read permissions allowed.
