SP2 after installing

Since I installed SP2 for Windows XP Home two things happen. Are they caused
by the update and how can I correct them.
1. When Windows (my profile) is being loaded I get the message: "General
Protection Fault Error. Please delete file". (Don't know what file, either).
2. Every hour or so, Internet Explorer loads in it's "mimized" format with
no text or graphics - and is loged on to a search website which I never use.

I'd appreciate any info - in fact ALL the info I can get on these two issure.
