I've got the same motherboard running on the (lousy) 1017
BIOS---and I'm running SP2 with no trouble at all on a
RAID 0 setup. My current installation is a clean
slipstreamed installation, but I had downloaded and
installed SP2 RC2 over an existing installation no
problem (but that was not on a RAID setup).
My guess is that when you flashed the BIOS, it reset your
BIOS settings, and you just don't have it set up right
for RAID. Are you running RAID off of ICH5R or the
Promise controller? That could be your problem right
there.
In any case, here's what I recommend for your BIOS
settings (assuming you are running RAID):
MAIN-->IDE CONFIGURATION-->
ONBOARD IDE OPERATE MODE-->ENHANCED
ENHANCED MODE SUPPORT ON-->S-ATA
CONFIGURE SATA AS RAID-->YES
SERIAL ATA BOOTROM-->ENABLED
ADVANCED-->JUMPERREE CONFIGURATION-->STANDARD (on both,
overclocking is a bad idea while
installing/troubleshooting, and the default is an
overclocked setting)
ADVANCED-->ONBOARD DEVICES CONFIGURATION-->ONBOARD
PROMISE CONTROLLER-->enabled or disabled depending on
whether you are using PROMISE or ICH5R
BOOT-->BOOT SETTINGS CONFIGURATION-->FULL SCREEN LOGO--
>DISABLED (so you can see if something else might be
causing you trouble)
Also, make sure your boot device priority is set
correctly---reboot after making sure all SATA settings
are correct, then check this again.
Let me know how it goes.
