sp2 & broadband modem

I've tried several times to get SP2 on my computer, but everytime I load it,
the only problem I get is with the broadband modem. No lights, and no
connection. Tried reloading all the software, but to no avail. Wanadoo
technical support are no use what so ever, and MS are impossible to
contact....anyone else had this problem?
