SP2 causes lockup

Have tried installing SP2 twice now. Both times it re-boots to the desktop,
but with no icons. After a few minutes a panel appears syaing that the
Windows NT authority is closing down Windows to avoid damage. The reason for
this it says is that the Remote Procedure Call couldnt be executed. Any help
would be great, thanks.
