SP2 Causing Applications to run slow

I've installed SP2 on my PC and now my applications (MS Office for example)
load slower and it is severly hampering my productivity at work. I have
turned off the firewall, auto updates and the antivirus stuff but it still
operates slower then before I installed SP2. The PC is a Dell Optiplex with a
2.66 Pentium 4 processor and 512 RAM. Any help would be appreciated.
