Im running xp pro & have just installed the RTM release of SP2. Since then
when I boot after 15 secs my McAfee Firewall version 4 disables itself. At
least I think it does the Mcafee Security Centre icon turns black and says it
has. But when I go to the firewall it says its running. I have turned off the
builtin firewall that comes with SP2 and its reminder but my McAfee firewall
still disables after 15 secs from boot. I dont know if its related but
Messenger 6.2 does not load straight away anymore either. After several
minutes my McAfee Firewall comes back to life on its own, but i'm worried
about the gap in protection whilst its disabed. Any ideas?

There is a whole raft of reports of problems with sp2 and Firewalls, amongst
other probs.
Some have been cured by uninstalling yr Firewall/AV app then reinstalling,
others have had to roll back the sp2

Check with McAfee to be sure that particular version is compatible
with SP-2.
Then uninstall McAfee firewall per their procedure.
Reboot
Install McAfee firewall.
