hello,

i have the SP2 disk but before i start a fresh

i heard that i can make the computer run faster if i use other BIOS other
then Dells (?flash something, not to familiar).

Do you have any suggestion/recommendations? Let me know if you need more
specific information on my computer.

Plus i read 2 articles about tips before doing the update and they contain
good info. But I would like to read more. If you can send me some links that
way i make sure i covered myself as best as possible.

is there a better group to post this message in?

Thanks for all the help,

l

Do not use any other BIOS update other than the
latest one offered by Dell for your specific Dell
computer model. A different BIOS update will
likely corrupt your current BIOS and you'll no
longer be able to boot.

Generally you only want to get a BIOS from the manufacturer.
Also, you should only update the BIOS if there is a specific reason.
Since you have a Dell, they are your source for BIOS and information about
BIOS.

The Service Pack Installation Checklist can help you install SP-2:

Don't flash a BIOS.....

with any BIOS except the system manufacturer's BIOS or motherboard manufacturer's BIOS !

unless you are willing deal with negative consequences

if there is no need to do so such as; gain 48bit LBA support
