SP2 - How Do I Know if it's Downloading?

I'm running XP Home. About an hour ago, I started the SP2 download using a
broadband connection. I started it from the globe(?) in my taskbar. After
about 5 minutes, the globe disappeared from the taskbar, so I cannot track
progress. Is there anyway I can tell if anything is happening? Thanks.

Hover the mouse on the Internet connection icon and see if
the numbers are increasing over time. It may take a while,
even on broadband as the server may ration bandwidth. It
will finish in due time and begin the install.

I disagree with Jim. I had the same issue Oscar on my laptop during a
wireless attempt. Globe came, globe went, and no SP2. (After 4 days).

Today I have an even better problem - it started downloading at 8:00am EST -
it's now 3:14pm EST and it's still at "0% complete".

I don't know for sure. My ethernet card doesn't give me a connection icon,
so I couldn't use that to check. I finally rebooted, which did not give me
back the globe, so I went to the MS Update website and downloaded/installed
SP2 using the express install option. When the download finished, the globe
popped back up on the taskbar, to let me know it was "ready to install". I
ignored it and let the "express install" from their website finish. It may
have been downloading all along, but I could not find any indication that
was happening. The express download/install seemed to go well, and I'm
currently running SP2. Good luck.
