Even though I set the critical download setting to dont download but do
notify me it is still downloading sp2 how can I stop the download while in
progress?

Turn off Automatic Updates.

Automatic updates is already turned off?

too late already completed download but didnt install, what do I do now

Hi

You could clean out this folder (WU5's temporary download
folder) and see if that helps:

%windir%\SoftwareDistribution\

(%windir% is typically C:\Windows)

You can use the procedure described here:
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...cleid=11&ln=en

Note that a side effect of deleting the DataStore folder is that
you lose your WU v5 History listing (not critical).


Instead of using Windows/Automatic Updates to install SP2, I suggest
you download the full SP2 installation and use it to install SP2.

SP2 is available at the Microsoft Download Center
(standalone "network" version, 266 MB):

If you think that download is to large, you can get the same
file on a CD from Microsoft.
