I am wondering if anyone knows if the individual update components/fixes,
etc., can be downloaded for the SP2 update, instead of the whole updat rolled
in one. I have already ordered the CD so I don't have to downlaod the whole
big thing with dial-up, but I would still like to know if it can be split up
at all.

No, the closest you can get to that is to install all the other Critical
Updates.
Install SP-2 when the CD arrives.

Hey thanks for getting back to me so quickly...now I am going to seem really
stupid here, but did you mean that I should just wait until I get the CD, and
download all the stuff then? And is it all one update on the CD or can I
select what I want to download from cd? I'm curious...how much of my free
space is this giant going to take???? And WHY WHY WHY are there SO MANY
PROBLEMS with it?? It makes a unskilled user like myself slightly
nervous......well anyway thank you for any previous helpful advice, and
future advice too!!!! I have checked out your website too...it's cool;
unfortunate that with limited time to use computer/internet, and many things
to do I don't get very much time to look at things because I have STUPID SLOW
DIAL-UP!!! We live out in the sticks, and my ONLY other option is....NO
INTERNET!!!! Keep up the excellent HELP!!!!! Thanks again!!

Since you have ordered the CY, you will probably have it by the end of the
week.
Since you are on dial-up, it may be better for you to wait until you have
the CD.
You either install SP-2 or you don't, you can not pick and choose components
while installing SP-2.

Much of the free space used can be easily reclaimed:

Why are there so many problems? There may not be as many as it seems.
People post here because of problems and thus at a glance it may seem like
there are more than there actually is.
Generally people do not post or search for problems they do not have.
Following the checklist in my last post can go a long way to preventing
problems relating to SP-2.

"duroz",

Just to add to this, SP2 will detect and install those updates that you do
not yet have on your system, and update registry entries accordingly so that
you have a complete installation of Service Pack 2. This does not mean that
every update on the CD will be installed the day you attempt this. Instead,
it will be that which you have not installed yet.

Sincerely,

Pat Walters [MSFT]
