Help!

I'm aware that I could download SP2 manually (in fact I did download but
haven't tried that yet) and install from that, however I'm confused as to
why I'm not getting anywhere with this automatic download process since I've
stay connected most of the time since the release.

I have yet to receive any taskbar notification that SP2 is ready to download
or install, infact I don't see that icon anywhere in my attempts.

I see a process "wuauclt.exe" running after a reboot or when I modify start
times on the auto download schedule. I have rebooted often, but have also
left it alone for many hours.

"wuauclt.exe seems to terminate as a process after about 7-10 minutes. I see
no error codes except the error code "0" shown below in the log file.

Once wuauclt.exe terminates, it doesn't seem to restart.

This is the last part of the windowsupdate.log after wuauclt.exe terminates:

{F28DAD34-8FFF-4F93-8C2D-F5B276BD5003} from datastore

2004-08-21 14:55:06-0400 856 5fc No pending client directive, bailing out
2004-08-21 15:00:04-0400 2896 b54 Out of proc datastore is shutting down
2004-08-21 15:00:06-0400 2896 b54 Out of proc datastore is now inactive

I have these questions:

1. Is this normal, perhaps I'm last in the queue for the download?
2. Why don't I see an update icon in on the taskbar and why don't I get any
popup notifications of a pending download attempt?
3. Shouldn't a WU process be running all the time monitoring the progress of
the automatic download?
4. What's the meaning of this statement in the log "No pending client
directive, bailing out"? Is this normal if the download isn't available yet
to me?

This is correct and by design. There are two wait periods with Automatic
Update: The first when you OK the Download, and then you need to wait
because Microsoft daily limits the number of
SP-2 installations through Automatic Update. It could be very soon or it
could be days.
