SP2 Download Question

Where's the option for those of use who will not enable Automatic Updates and
BITS? I'd rather spend the money shipping out an update CD than enable those
services. Earlier, the website indicated there would be "other options"
available for users such as myself, and now no such indication appears.

I know MS is trying to conserve bandwidth and I can accept that. They
should be well aware that a large portion of its user base won't use AU and
BITS, and have an additional option available for us, however.

Go here to download Service Pack 2 to your desktop. Simply click the
Install button.

I just downloaded that monster. All 274 MB of it. It took my 1mb
cable modem 38:39.1 minutes to download at a avg DL rate of 993.1
kbps.

Question for you: I do not have a network, only one Dell pc on a
cable modem. Will this behemouth install on my pc only what is
necessary? Or, will it install the whole 274 mb on my system. I want
to put the monster on a CD and upgrade from a CD. I do not want to
install SP2 using the automatic update. There are too many horror
stories. Thanks.

It will install only what is necessary. It's large because it also contains
all of SP1 so those folks who did not get SP1 now get to the same level in
one go.

It will only install what you need on your single PC. You can burn it to a
CD if anyone in your family, or any of your friends and neighbors, needs the
Service Pack.

I downloaded the monster and slapped it on a CD. Man it is huge - 274
MB.

Thanks for your assistance.
