sp2 error 0x8024D007

I am trying to download sp2 for my windows xp pro. (I can't use my zen till
I do) It won't let me download any updates. It freezes on the update screen
for several minutes, then finally goes to the download now icon, attempts to
download for about 5 seconds and then just continues to give me the above
error code. I tried to follow instructions to turn on automatic updates and
for some reason it's not even an option. This error code isn't listed in
with common problems and online support won't reply. Any suggestions?

Thanks. I tried all that was recommended. Running the programs in safe mode
and verifying the windows stuff. That did find a couple of problems that
were fixed, but I am still having the same errors. Does anyone have any
other suggestions? (Microsoft sent be an e-mail saying they would contact me
with a reply e-mail in 24 hours, but it's been over that and I still haven't
heard from them)

0x8024D007 WU_E_SETUP_REGISTRATION_FAILED
Windows Update Agent could not be updated because regsvr32.exe returned an
error.

Run sfc /scannow

To do this simply go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow

This may fix things quite a bit. It replaces corrupt files with intact ones,
if you're not familiar with it.
