sp2 error code 80246008

Download will not initiate due to above. My system is XP
Home. Per previous suggestion, I downloaded BITS service
update KB82773; no help. Any other suggestions? Is there
a site that explains the error codes?

This error may occur if the Background Intelligent Transfer Service is not
enabled. Note: Even if you are not using the Automatic Updates feature, the
service must be enabled for Windows Update.

K aka T: it does not work! I have XP Prof & my cpmputer is completely ruined!!
