SP2 Error Message " Acess Denied "

I'm having trouble installing SP2 for XP Pro. Before I mention this problem,
I'll explain the problem which led to this. 2 years ago I purchased a Dell
desk top computer, The computer was pre-installed with the software with XP
pro 1a. I installed the SP2 with no problems. Four weeks ago my computer
would not boot up. Dell tec support inform me the HDD was ok but the data had
to be backed up or reformated loosing the data. I gave my computer to my
local computer shop. The back up went well and the HDD was reformated and XP
pro was installed. Since then my computer will not install SP2 and a error
message "Acess Denied". All other updates were installed with no problems.
Any one who had this problem? Any one knows how to fix this problem? Any help
is very much appreciated.

I would take it back to the shop who did the work.
