SP2 error

I am trying to instal service pack 2 and getting "an internal error".
The Error Code: 0x87FF054F is in the log.

I bootup without load and virus and spyware programs(all startup item).

it's pretty clear that an update has a lot of problems....40 hours later and
still not up
