SP2 files replaced

I updated to SP2 in August when it came out. All has been great. However,
today my hard drive started churning like crazy and I noticed a window had
opened. I can't recall exactly what it said but basicly it said "some
Windows files had been replaced by an older version and the newer ones were
needed to maintain Windows stability". It then asked me for my SP2 CD, which
I don't have. I had no choice but to cancel. It WARNED me this was not the
correct approach and Windows may be unstable. When that window closed I
noticed 2 icons were missing from my desktop. One was MovieLink, but I can't
figure out the other one.

I don't know what just happened.
HELP
PLEASE ADVISE

I run a firewall and antivirus as well as run Adaware.

I would suggest you try running sfc.exe /scannow

Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker
(Sfc.exe)

If you have sp2 files should be in
c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386
