sp2 freezes pc on boot

Dear MS
after installing sp2 my pc freezes , I have checked for all spyware &
antivrus on the machine , I have used msconfig & disabled all startup items ,
I have run scannow for missing files , I have done system repair , but sp2
keeps freezing the machine , I can get to the desktop then the mouse and
keyboard freeze , I have to manually power shutdown and then boot safe mode
to uninstall sp2 . Any ideas. HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you checked the hardware mfr's websites for updated drivers?
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/oemlinks.mspx may help if you're
using a 'brand' computer.....you can get the drivers and install them in
safe mode.

Dear all,

What a few weeks I have had. After installing SP2 my PC froze all over the
place. I have uninstalled SP2 still freezing. I have reinstalled XP still
freezes. In safe mode it freezes. In clean boot it freezes. I have just
done a diagnostic test on my HD & that seems OK. MS are suggesting I install
a parallel XP to see if that works. The problem is sometimes the PC works
for a long time without freezing and then it freezes everytime I startup or
do anything.

Any other suggestions?
