SP2 install failure error 9FFE4001

I contune to get an error msg 9FFE4001 as SP2 is trying to do the 1st update
in SP2 and can not find any info on this error

Where are you getting this error? On the website itself? I am assuming
this is Windows XP. Would you mind please trying it again, waiting to
reattempt the last step until your clock moves forward to a new minute?
Memorize this time as the Windows Update attempt fails, and then open the
log and post back with the time and what you were doing when it failed.
Here's how:

1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type or copy: %windir%\windowsupdate.log
4. Type the <Enter> key or click OK
5. After the log opens, move down to the bottom of the log by typing <CTRL>
and the <End> keys.
6. Move up the log to the time you memorized earlier as the beginning of the
attempt.
7. Select the beginning of the line for that time entry, and select
everything below it to the end of the log.
8. Press <CTRL> and then <C> key for copy.
9. Reply to this posting within the group.
10. After the window opens, Press <CTRL> and then <V> to paste the log
entries into the posting.
11. Tell us, at the top of the post, which download you attempted to
install.
12. Post the reply with the log entries.

I did an SP1 update then tried SP@ again. Here is the log from that session.

That didn't capture the error code you are reporting.
It was just a standard 80072ee7 0x8024402c
You can use the troubleshooter to avoid that symptom.
