Is the any point in downloading and installing SP2 if my vista SP1 is
fully updated via windows update?

I would say if you don't have SP2 you aren't fully up to date.

Hi,

There's more to SP2 than just a package of existing updates. While it's not
essential, it does provide changes to the operating system that help
streamline performance. FAQ's:

Makes sense. I wasn't sure if it was just a cumulative update but
looking at the links Tom posted it seems it is part cumulative and part
new updates.

"In addition to all previously released updates since SP1, SP2supports
new types of hardware, and adds support for several emerging standards. "

Performance improvements? The only performance improvements MS lists
are:

"SP2 improves performance for Wi-Fi connections after resuming from
sleep mode."

That translates to "your network connections might actually come back
to life after sleep mode".

AND
"SP2 includes updates to the RSS feeds sidebar for improved
performance and responsiveness."

Ohh, delight, RSS feeds are more responsive. That was all the buzz at
the water cooler last week.
