Intalled SP2 through Auto Update, NO PROBLEMS! Windows XP Home, Custom built
PC, Pentum 4 Prescott 3E Ghz CPU, 1 Gigabyte RAM, Microsoft Works Suite 2004,
Norton Anti-Virus, McAfeee Firewall. I built this PC, and build PC's as a
Hobby, if you use common sense, you'll see no issues with Service Pack 2. Of
course there could be some minor problems later, but after a week, I see
NONE. There will be "Patches", etc. later, I am sure, but overall, I see SP2
as a VERY GOOD thing! Anyone remember the "Blaster" worm? It hit "Unpatched
machines" and Microsoft had the the patch available BEFORE the worm hit the
"Net". Install it if you want protection, if you don't you may regret it
later. The virus & worm writers are counting on you NOT installing this
Security related Service Pack!

I did not have any problems either with it.
And I have to admit I do like it.
I think others who are having problems are running into compatibility issues
with it...more than anything. Something on their pcs aren't compatible with
the sp2.
I did run into one piece of software that needed an update and that was
Nero.
I also think the automatic updating of the sp2 was a huge problem as well
for some folks. I for one had trouble with that and turned off automatic
updates and then when I heard the manual download was available I went and
did that with no problems.
I just spoke with my Dad and he has a Dell and downloaded using automatic
updates...he had no problems whatsoever.
I guess those of us who had no problems are the lucky ones and I do feel bad
for the ones who are having major problems.
I try to help those when I can.

I downloaded and installed it before Auto Update had it
available. It's been, what, two weeks, and no problems here
either. There was a small issue with DIVX but that was
because mine was out of date and I didn't know it.

It's a mixed bag. We have some machines update fine, others don't. When
they don't there is nothing that you can do about it. The other machines
went to SP1 fine, but won't take SP2. It takes 45 minutes to find out it
won't work because it always fails at the end of the process.

Bunnyman here, still NO PROBLEMS! In fact, Service Pack 2 has made my PC run
BETTER than ever! I was having quite a few DCOM errors, minor, but now they
are gone! Performance overall has increased noticeably! I can see NO reason
not to install this, & dial up users, remember you can order a FREE
installation CD from Microsoft! Really FREE! Do a search on this, you'll find
it on Microsoft's site!
