sp2 install problem (catalog?)

i recently rebooted my pc with xp pro. i went on the update site and started
to update. i got to ervice pack 2 and it downloaded it fine. then installed
it up until it said that it could read from catalogs or something like that.
it gave me a option to undo the changes made so i clicked ok, bt it then told
me that sp2 was only partially installed and that the installaition failed! i
really wanna get this sorted! been trying for weeks!
