SP2 Install problems

I'm sure this has been covered before many times, but cant find helpful info.
Have XP home, SP1 + updates trying to install SP2, for several months, but
dont have time. After 5 hours and a search thru MS, applying all steps in
KB822798 and other advice in this newsgroup , still get:
"Could not verify integrity of Update.inf. Make sure crytographics service
is running"
Failed install log shows error code 0x8007F0DA.
Happens repeatedly now matter what fixes I apply.
Please help. I cant continue to waste this kind of time on this.

You did not mention the name of the failed install log in order for us to
determine if there is a known problem with the KP* you are trying to
install.

Have you downloaded SP2? Or order the free CD?

Are you try to install by downloading or using a Windows XP SP2 CD?

Borrow an SP2 CD from a friend. They work on any computer.
