SP2 installation error 8020010

I have been trying to install SP2. The installation stops with a copy error
during setup. The message is as follows:
Setup cannot copy the file idq.dll.
Ensure that the location specified below is correct, or change it and insert
'Windows XP System Files' in the drive you specify.
Copy files from: (dropdown)
c:\windows\system32
D:
C:
My choices are "retry" and "cancel". If I cancel, the next question is if I
want to continue without copying this file. If I say yes, the copying
continues until it reaches file vgx.dll. This files shows up as c:\program
files\common files\microsoft shared\vgx with the above instructions as the
idq.dll file. I've contacted Help and Support via an internet chat session
and by phone. I don't know what to do and really didn't get any help from
Help and Support. I have a Compaq Presario 6027US.
