SP2 installation failure,Error Code: 0x80070017

When I update XP SP2, it failed and the Error Code: 0x80070017 . Who can help
me?

What updates are you trying to install?

Have you done any hard disk maintenance like defrag or chkdsk lately?

I want to install SP2.
Yes, I just cleaned out the temporary internet files and do hard disk
defrag, but it can't complete the disk check (Auto fix the system errors
faile, because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some windows
files on the disk. These files can be accessed only by restarting windws.).
Pls. help!

Not sure if you're saying you can't run check disk or you're not sure of how
to run it -
