SP2 killed Internet Explorer and other Programs

ok I installed SP2...no problems there. Rebooted...no
problems there.. Open IE, window opens for about 3 secs
and closes, Help and support window opens and closes in 3
secs. Can't use windows update cause it uses an IE
window. Used MSN messenger no probs but open an IE window
and it closes both.... I've seen a few ppl in this forum
with close to the same problem but no fix. any ideas
would be greatly appreciated.

All in wonder radeon (old)32mb
256 DDR3300
gamesurround muse XL
1 40gig WD HD
1 80gig WD HD
LG 16XDVD/52/24/52 CDRW
1 52X CDROM
NIS was disabled prior to install
NAV was disabled prior to install

I installed SP2 on my system and couldn't get into
anything including "Task Manager" or get the computer to
shutdown.

It turns out I had Zonealarm Pro set to run at start-up
and it was somehow blocking everything. I was so
frustrated I was going to re-install XP without SP2 but I
decided to start in safemode and told Zonealam not to run
at startup and when I rebooted, everything seams to run
fine.

Zonealarms web site says to turn off XP's firewall before
turning zonealarm on at startup. I'm still working this
out so I can't offer more yet.

Not sure if you have Zonealarm running but that was what
caused my issues.
