For some reason, SP2 is no longer showing up as an option for download on the
Windows update page. It used to be for a couple of months and then stopped
about 2 1/2 months ago. I am very faithful in installing all the critical
updates and they have all been successfully installed. I looked at the
possible issues in Microsoft's web site and none apply to me. I don't have
that T.V. Media program, there have been no SP2 blocks installed on my
computer (home user, I'm the only one using it). I do not believe I have a
Prescott Processor as it was released after I purchased my computer. I ran 2
programs to identify my motherboard and processor (BeLarc Advisor and BIOS
Wizard as well as the Intel Processor ID utility)
Results:

Intel(R) Processor Identification Utility
Version: 1.01.20041021
Time Stamp: 2005/01/16 06:28:38
Number of processors in system: 1
Current processor: #1
Processor Name: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz
Type: 0
Family: F
Model: 2
Stepping: 7
Revision: 33
L1 Trace Cache: 12 Kµops
L1 Data Cache: 8 KB
L2 Cache: 512 KB
Packaging: FC-PGA2
EIST: No
MMX(TM): Yes
SIMD: Yes
SIMD2: Yes
SIMD3: No
Enhanced Halt State: No
Execute Disable Bit: No
Hyper-Threading Technology: No
Expected Processor Frequency: 2.80 GHz
Reported Processor Frequency: 2.80 GHz
Expected System Bus Frequency: 533 MHz
Reported System Bus Frequency: 533 MHz

My chipset is Intel 2578 rev 2. and circuit board lists as Dell Corp. 0G0728
I list all these items to see if any of them have anything to do with the
Prescott issue and SP2. I still have the original BIOS that came on my
computer.
Does anyone have any idea why it does not show as an option for me to
download? I have the SP2 CD which would be what I would use if I decide to
install it. Also was wondering if I really need to update my BIOS. My
computer is working so well now and I am extremely meticulous in maintenance
with antivirus and anti-spyware as well as keeping cookies cleaned out. Maybe
I should just forget about SP2 as so many are having problems. Thanks for
any help

Using the SP2 CD you have on hand, I would suggest you
install SP2 at your earliest convenience.
