I installed SP2 last month and all seems well. Yesterday
10/2, Norton virus showed a Trojan horse and after the
procedure identified it as adware, specifically bullware.
I did have to replace autoexec.nt in /system32 and
otherwise all seems ok, except I still have these 2
problems, which I blame on the adware. I propose to
uninstall SP2 using the procedure MicroSoft outlines, and
then reinstall SP2. What do you think?
First, I get lots of pop-ups, even when I go to
hotmail email account. At least 3 each time, and they
appear to come from bullware. I think the protection in
SP2 is not working, when it did before, superbly I think.
Further, I get error messages when calling in
windows help. Depending upon where you click to find the
topic. If you go thru F1, it seems fine. If it is a link
on panel, say left clicking on a table top icon, then
properties, then compatibility, where it says, see program
compatibility, then I get an error message saying the file
is corrupted or gone.
I speculate if I reinstall SP2, it will fix the
help files and the pop-ups. What do you think?
Thanks
