SP2 not a critical update?

I go to the update site to look for updates and it says no critical updates
found.

Is that normal?

When will SP2 show up there?

I am running xp pro with all current critical updates installed. I
normally go to the update site and I usually don't have automatic updates
turned on.

Is there a link to download the complete SP2 so I can slipstream it into my
current XP Pro and create a new installation CD.

The final version of SP2 is not yet available to the general public for download.
It should appear as a Critical Update sometime around August 16th on the Windows
Update website.

Check this site next week for updates to it's availability:

It is not yet on Windows Update site. Have patience for a few days.
We can expect a link to the full "network install" package, if & when MS posts that on their public site.
You may expect the link to be announced on the XP Home page at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/default.mspx

You are doing well to have all the critical updates current.

Early next week you should be able to download it (see table below).

I would think that at least the standalone (network) installation will
be available from this URL (note that the URL is not active yet):

09. August Release to Microsoft Download Center (network
installation package)

10. August Release to Automatic Updates (for machines running
pre-release versions of Windows XP Service Pack 2 only)

16. August Release to Automatic Updates (for machines NOT running
pre-releases versions of Windows XP Service Pack 2)

16. August Release to Software Update Services

Later in August Release to Windows Update for interactive user
installations

If AutomaticUpdates is set to automatically download and install, is
that what will happen with SP2, or will some manual intervention be
necessary? If a user doesn't want SP2 automatically installed, would
have to change that setting?

Hi

Microsoft staff have stated that the installation will automatically
be started, but the user will be prompted to install it (necessary to
be able to e.g. display the EULA). You can cancel at this point.
