Check what the size of your paging file is. If you pagefile has reached it's limits, it'll come up with all kind of weird errors. Cheers, Robert |

Plenty of space. Over 30GB!
Page file is 1.6GB. Steve "PaddyBob" <> wrote in message news:53F33177-A1FC-4ACD-9087-... > "Steve" wrote: > > > I have tried everything (I think). "Steve",
I am sorry that you have encountered this issue. There is a log that is created for all of your windows update downloads. Would you mind opening it, copying and pasting the latest and most relevant lines from that log back here to the thread? Try this procedure first: 1. Click Start 2. Click "Control Panel" 3. When Control Panel opens, double-click "Add/Remove Programs" 4. When "Add/Remove Programs" opens, search for Windows XP SP2. 5. Assuming you find it here, click the Change/Remove button to remove it. 6. Once it is removed, please download the redistributable package from the following link: (please disregard the IT Professionals and Developers portion of this, as it will run on an individual computer as well: (266 MB) Short URL: http://tinyurl.com/3qrhg http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...5-9e368d3cdb5a Remember to save it first, then install it. If you have trouble with this, please send us the Windows Update log. Here is the step by step procedure to copy from the Windows Update log: On Windows XP: 1. Click Start 2. Click Run 3. type: %WINDIR%\WindowsUpdate.log 4. type the <Enter> key, or click OK 5. Next, when the log has opened, scroll all the way to the bottom. 6. Ensure this is the case by clicking anywhere inside the log and typing the <CTRL> and <End> keys. 7. Now that you are at the bottom of the log, type <CTRL> then the <F> key for Find. 8. When the Find window opens, in Direction click the "Up" radio button. 9. Still in the Find window, in the Find what: field, type in 0x and then click the Find Next button. 10. You will find the very latest error, usually in a format such as 0x800732EF or 0xFFFFFB40. 11. Verify that this is related to your installation of XP SP2. 11. Copy the whole line this code is on, and perhaps a few others around it, to let us understand the context. 12. Reply to this thread in this newsgroup, and paste the text you copied from the log. Sincerely, Pat Walters [MSFT] "Steve" <> wrote in message news:... > Plenty of space. This was, Steve! Sort of...
The very last error of this log is in the wrong format. We need to keep searching "up" to find one that has a "One, then X, then 8-digit" error code, such as 0x80070005. I apologize if I was not clear on this point. Please do reply back to this post with the error and some surrounding text. "Steve,"
Thank you for reposting, with this error. Unfortunately, this is one of those errors where it essentially translates to, "There is nothing left to do, so exiting." Would you mind searching again a little higher in the log and reposting? Thank you. Sincerely, Pat Walters [MSFT] "Steve" <> wrote in message news:#... > OK, sorry.
