I tried several times over several months to install SP2 from the CD. Each
time it got hung up and would not continue. Mine stopped at the same file
everytime...the registry. Finally someone suggested I install from Safe Mode.
Before I tried this, however, I closed all open files in the startup (I did
this through msconfig), and the CD installed lickety split. I have had no
problems since. My next choice, if this did not work, was to try to install
from safe mode.
Another thing to remember is that it could take up to 2 hours to install on
some computers. When mine finally got going, I doubt it took 10 minutes.
