SP2 problems and errors

I have a hard time believing that more magazines,
newsletters and articles have not published more about
what a headache SP2 is for all of us! I have spent an
entire afternoon and evening trying to read all about the
bugs, incompatibilities and errors that SP2 may cause.
How can Microsoft fathom releasing such a piece of trash,
forcing us all to follow behind their every release to
see what we as end users need to do to "patch things
up"?? I simply started out trying to run a class CD past
login and can't get by thanks to SP2! This has insanely
wasted precious hours of a life that was already too
stressed and didn't have enough time to devote in the
first place to something that should have been more
diligently thought out. We would have waited, Microsoft!

SP2 was extensively tested on hundreds of thousands
of machines. If folks are having a problem installing
it, it is because their system is corrupt to begin with.
I have installed SP2 on many machines and have yet
to see as much as a single error message!

Since you cannot express a single specific issue with SP2,
I assume you have no issues with it.

My computer is up to date. Automatic Update says there are no critical
updates required. I update Norton Firewall and AntiVirus weekly. I can't even
get Automatic Update to start a download of SP2. It just circles back to the
beginning screen warning me to install SP2 for security reasons. You may have
installed SP2 on many machines but my guess is Automatic Update was not used
or if it was the environment was tightly controlled such as a system test
lab. It really doesn't help to say everything is fine. As the expert it seems
that you would offer constructive suggestions as to what we should look for
and things we might try to get the ball rolling.

What problems have you had? Post the details here and we can assist you.

Don't be alarmed by the number of problems discussed in these newsgroups -
these only represent a minority of users. Remember - people only post here
when they have problems. The hundreds of thousands of people who have had no
problems whatsoever aren't likely to come here and boast about it. If they
did, I bet you wouldn't be able to find the posters with problems because
the groups would be flooded with success stories.

That's true. One reason that there are not a lot more messages is past
experience of it not doing any good to post it. It could be a good long
while before anybody even responds with WOMM.
