Has anyone tried this yet? I'm downloading it now, couldn't find another
'normal' link, apparently just the ISO appears to be the right version- not
the executable.

You would be absolutely foolish to download and install SP2 from a
third-party, non-Microsoft sanctioned web site. Wait until Microsoft
officially releases SP2 next month.

Fast to hit reply? The link in the post takes you to the Microsoft website.
And I don't remember asking whether I should install a beta.
Just got it installed and it's the latest version v286.

Then why not post the direct link in the first place?

Most of us consider release candidates to be betas. The MS site
referenced mentions that RC's apply to people, organizations, and
technical enthusiasts who are comfortable evaluating prerelease software.

I'll wait for the final version, thank you.

It works fine. I think it's just a big pack of hotfixes, no real
performance gains or usability improvements.
